What we do…
Safe Zone Gunfire Detection systems represent a breakthrough in cost-effective IoT (Internet of Things) design. The technology is a mix of proprietary hardware and cloud-based machine learning software. There are several patents pending on the system.
Safe Zone was developed by the team at AVidea Group, Inc. (“AViG”). These folks have more than a century of combined experience developing technologies that improve lives. The team has developed four different home automation systems, each an improvement over the one before as more advanced technology became available. After selling their previous company (TiO – an innovative home automation system in its own right), the team embarked on developing a lighting control and energy management system leveraging even newer available technologies. The result was iminate (www.iminate.com), a system that reports energy usage in real-time, provides sophisticated control of lighting and other devices, and utilizes the latest IoT platform and capabilities.
One aspect of iminate is that the system utilizes an external sensor for control of devices based on room occupancy. The Detector also includes a sophisticated acoustic sensor to provide intelligent glass break capabilities. In testing we discovered that, with the addition of a mechanical acoustic filter, the Detector could use its combination of infrared and acoustic sensors to detect and identify gunfire.
When we first showed the iminate line of products at InfoComm 2018, the Gunfire Detection application received a lot of interest. So much that when we returned from the show, we conducted a lot of research into the application. We discovered a huge need for an affordable, reliable gunfire detection system. While the market was big, all the available systems are more than 10 times the cost. In other words, we had the opportunity to fill a real need in the market. Safe Zone was born – making sophisticated, reliable automated gunfire detection available to many, many more people.
